Tuesday May 20.........4:38 p.m.........it looks like there will be softball tomorrow night as the forecast calls for NO rain...........sports update......in hockey........Detroit vs. Pittsburgh for the Stanley Cup......my pick is Pittsburgh in six games......Cyclones as the Kelly Cup Champs over the Las Vegas Thunder as long as the team stays out of the casinos........in the N.B.A........Detroit over Boston in seven games (wanna bet MIKE ROTHSTEIN?) and San Antonio over Los Angeles in seven games.........DOUG SANDOR e-mailed me back and wrote he may be back next year.....it depends on how his old bones are doing .......QUESTION OF THE DAY....... Saturday May 17............11:12 p.m.........CYCLONES ARE IN THE FINALS!!!!!!......they defeated the South Carolina Stingrays on the road this evening 2-1 in overtime to win the series 4 games to 1.......next up is Las Vegas for the Kelly Cup Championship!!!!!!!........in the N.H.L.......Dallas staved off elimination as they defeated Detroit 2-1, but still trail 3-2 in the series.....tomorrow, Pittsburgh, behind Sid the Kid, will try to eliminate Philly up 3 games to 1.......the Reds defeated in state rival Cleveland this evening 4-2 thanks to a three-run jack by Adam Dunn........and finally Candace Parker scored 34 points in her professional debut to pace the Los Angles Sparks to a road win over the Phoenix Mercury.........that's for you BRAD WAGNER........in the N.B.A. Lebron and Co. will try to knock off Boston in Beantown with the series tied at 3 and the winner to play the Detroit Pistions and some guy from U.C..that's for you BRAD WAGNER.............. r.rosenthal@fuse.net .......

Saturday May 17.............2:43 p.m........MATT STEINBERG and his Walnut Hills Eagle baseball team saw their season end this afternoon against a powerful Moeller team 9-2.........now his focus will be on Team Schwartz......a rarity happened last night in the N.B.A..........a road team won as the Los Angeles Lakers knocked off the Utah Jazz to win that series 4-2.......they await the San Antonio/New Orleans winner........in the East, Cleveland defeated Boston and Game 7 in Boston will decide who faces Detroit.......the Cyclones won Game 4 last night at South Carolina and need one more victory to play in the Finals vs Las Vegas for the Kelly Cup.......Game 5 is tonight on the road and Games 6 and 7 (if necessary) would be Monday and Wednesday at U.S. Bank Arena......the Detroit Red Wings try to close out Dallas this afternoon......(1-1 in the second period)..........and finally this one's for BRAD WAGNER.........THE W.N.B.A. season starts today with Candace Parker making her debut........ r.rsoenthal@fuse.net ...........

Sunday May 4........12:01 p.m........Early reports from this mornings games.....Team Grefer defeated Team Harris (minus Captain Dee) 13-3 as it was a total team effort on the part of the victors who sport a 3-0 record.....team spokesman "The Rocket" emphasized after the win what he had told The Blog a couple of weeks ago that Team Grefer will not only win the first half, but the second half as well......they looked strong today both offensively and defensively and sub MIKE GRAY pitched well in place of regular ace BARRY KAPLAN.....however, THE PLAY OF THE GAME was a terrific catch by "GREENIE" who laid out his entire body in left center field........later games will hopefully be reported to The Blog and appear later..............mailto:later..............r.rosenthal@fuse.net .....

Sunday May 4........8:19 a.m.......still in my p.j.s. at the computer (what a sight????????), I just called the weather line and the games are ON as sunny skies will greet us with temps in the 40's/50's......Cyclones won a BIG one last night to extend their series with Reading (NOT Ohio) to a Game 7 tomorrow night at U.S. Bank Arena......if you never been to a Game 7 in hockey it's a treat!!!!!!!!!..........New Orleans Hornets, behind David West, graduate of you know where, pumped in 30 points to lead the Hornets to an opening game victory over defending champion San Antonio......and yes Brad Wagner, Jason Maxiell, graduate from you know where and the Detroit Pistions knocked off Orlando in their first game of the semis.....he only had 12 points..........finally, the Reds scored a run with Griffey, Jr. batting second???????, however Atlanta scored nine runs......Happy Softballing!!!!!!!!!!....... r.rosenthal@fuse.net .....................

Grefer Beats Team Gordy



Team Grefer defeated Team Gordon 9 - 2 in a game marked by good defense. Mark Gordon led Team Gordon with 2 hits while Team Grefer was led by 3 hits each for Rich Goldfarb and rookie, Zach Hiudt. The game's big hit belonged to Ryan Silverman who hit a 2 out grand slam home run in the 3rd inning. Barry Kaplan retired the final 12 batters he faced.

Thursday May 1.........11:31 p.m.......report in from Team Kirzner........Team Kirzner defeated Team Harris 15-8 for their first victory of the season.....the game ball went to the entire team as it was indeed a team effort........highlights included.......RYAN KIRZNER going a perfect 4 for 4 with three RBI's at the plate......is he the best on base % player in the league?.......STU WEINSTEIN was 3 for 3 and 2 RBI's with a near homerun that turned into a triple (he's still on oxegen).......JOE GOLDBERG, after a year off, was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and finally JOHN SILVERMAN was 3 for 4 and 1 RBI.....kudos also go to TED KANTOR AND BIG TODD WASSERMAN because I like them..........NO REPORT from Team Harris as he is busy trying to come up with a winning formula and trying to keep his team afloat..........mailto:afloat..........r.rosenthal@fuse.net

Sunday April 27.........5:21 p.m...........The Commish (minus his son) was at the Moeller High School sports card show again this afternoon and was stalking me!!!!!!!!! he loaded up on some "goodies" come banquet time and yours' truely bought some cards, but at the auction ended up with some good buys on a Reggie Bush autographed mini-helmet, a Lebron James autographed photo and finally the gem..........a Wayne Gretzky autographed min-helmet......didn't find any RON ROSE, HOWARD GOLDWASSER, DAVID TESSEL, TODD WASSERMAN, SCOTT WOLF, DAN CRONSTEIN, GARY ASKIN, BRAD WAGNER, ANTON LOOOOOOOOON, STEVE EPPSTEIN or RICKY LEFTON rookie or game-used cards, but I did find a DAVID "DEE" HARRIS card.........yes I did!!!!!!!!!!........PRICELESS!!!!!!....Cyclones were a winner last night to even therir series at 1-1..........game 3 tomorrow night at U.S. Bank Arena........comments, suggestions, rumors can be sent to r.rosenthal@fuse.net......

Commissioner's Hottest Corner......


Team Schwartz beat Team Harris 8 to 1 thanks to its defense. John Berg sparkled at third with close to double digit flawless opportunities. Momentum could have shifted early, but a great throw from Howard Saresky nipped a sliding Sparky Fogel at home. JB gets the game ball.

For the second week in a row, another nail biter for Team Glassman with the game once again ending with the bases loaded and the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the 7th A line drive out ended it The game was close early until the hitting star Norm Frankel unleashed a bases clearing triple to open up an 10-4 lead for Glassman in a 5 run 5th Newman roared back on the strength of a 3 rd HR by rookie B Stallman to close the lead to 10-9 but it was not enough. Jeff Finkelstein and Brandon Guttman turned in solid defensive performances

Thursday April 24........12:27 a.m..........week 2 is in the books....again CAPTAINS are asked to please e-mail me with highlights (no lowlights please) on their team at r.rosenthal@fuse.net .........The top of the news has to be that Rogzilla "can't find the plate" Rosenthal did NOT walk a batter and did NOT commit an error.......of course he didn't pitch and there was only one ball hit to him...........in action on field 2 Team Schwartz defeated Team Harris 8-1......Howie pitched well and the defense was solid behind him, however there were a couple of questionable calls against Team Harris that might have helped.......(ask Joel "Sparky" Fogel) about one.....hopefully Commish Gig will not fine this fine blog writer for questioning the umpires decision on a few plays.........Ron Rose, an avid reader of this blog, batted like the late great Frank Harkavy as he coaxed two walks in key situations off Doctor Bob by continuing to foul off pitches..........Happenings at BW'3s and The Rocket boldly predicted not only the first half championship, but the second half as well for Team Grefer........it is NOT known at this time if Coach Grefer will fine him or take away his beer privilages.......rumor has it that Steve Ostrow is NOT showing up because he thinks he's too good for everyone else......Other news and notes.........rumor has it that the Commish and his lovely wife were caught on video making out during the game.....is that a fine or what??????.....finally, superstar Adam Cronstein, reported to be a BIG Xavier fan (good for him) will be out of action for a few weeks as he will have a hernia operation Thursday.....we wish him the best.....finally, Mike Rothstein, Boston sports nut, predicted the Celtics to win the East......how about the Pistons?.........any comments, questions and rumors can be sent to r.rosenthal@fuse.net .....THE BLOG would like to know how many of you read this great creation....I've been told from some that they do.......if you do, please e-mail me before our next game and just drop me a line.....THE BLOG SAYS THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT.........
